Context Help

Introduction

ACD/Percepta now includes an extensive context help system that provides detailed information and usage instructions related to all GUI components in the program. Context help is shown in the form of text hints on hovering the mouse over the component of interest, additionally providing links to the relevant sections of the usual ACD/Percepta online help system where applicable.

Setup

Context help is enabled by default. The help data are stored in a separate file "contexthelp.xml" that is located in the PERCEPTA subfolder of ACD/Percepta installation root folder, and is automatically copied to the user’s Application Data directory on startup. If you wish to deactivate the context help system, you should manually delete this file from both locations, and restart the program. Under Windows 7 or newer OS, the correct path to the AppData folder would typically look as follows:

C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Advanced Chemistry Development\ACD Percepta\

NOTE: It is highly recommended to create a backup copy of "contexthelp.xml" before deletion (or, alternatively, just rename the file instead of deleting) in case you will ever need to restore the help functionality in future.
