How to add a new scatter plot?

1. Select Plotting menu and click File:addscattericon.png to add a new scatter plot to the spreadsheet. The setup controls for a newly created scatter plot always appear on the right-most side of the Scatter Menu toolbar.
2. Press the File:xbutton.png button to designate the currently active column as a source for the X axis values. Analogously, clicking the File:ybutton.png button define the data points contained in a selected column as the ones that should be put on a vertical Y axis. The fact that the currently selected column has been selected as source of X or Y values is represented in the toolbar, by shading any of the pictograms for the corresponding scatter plot.
3. Repeatedly clicking such active buttons cancels the use of the corresponding column data in that particular scatter and returns the X or Y data source setting to the undefined state. Whenever both X and Y sources have been correctly defined, the Scatter plot window is displayed automatically.
4. Whenever a mouse is clicked on a main program window of the ACD/Percepta, any graphs visible at the time become hidden. To bring any of them back to the top and into focus, use the File:eyeicon.png eye pictograms in the corresponding scatter plot setup controls.
   

How to add a trendline to the scatter plot?

1. In the Plotting menu of the Spreadsheet view, click the File:eyeicon.png eye pictogram in the corresponding scatter plot setup controls to bring the desirable one to the top.
2. In the Scatter Navigation toolbar, click on File:addtrendlinetool.png to display the available trendline information. By clicking again, all the trendline information (not the trendline itself) will be hidden.
3. Check the box near to trendline information to display the corresponding trendline in the Graph pane. Uncheck the box to remove the trendline from the scatter plot.
   

How to define a colored scatter plot?

Any column containing either qualitative category data (Good, Average, Bad, Unknown) or continuous data that has been split into several intervals can be used to classify all the scatter data points into several series depending on which qualitative category or property value interval they belong to. In order to do so, select the appropriately configured column and press the File:addcolorscatter.png button in the setup controls of the particular scatter plot. The data points in the scatter plot belonging to different series will become colored in the very same manner as are the corresponding cells in the spreadsheet falling within different categories or property value intervals. At the same time additional trendline information for each compound series becomes available along with the general trendline, allowing for separate correlation investigations within each of the compound groups.

How to select/deselect data points in the scatter plot?

• A single data point can be selected/deselected by simply clicking on it.
• Select/deselect all data points by double-clicking on any single point.
• In order to select a group of data points, use either the rectangular (File:rectangulartool.png) or lasso (File:lassotool.png) selection tools from the Scatter Navigation toolbar. Click and drag the mouse pointer within the scatter plot area.
• By holding down Ctrl while selecting, it is possible to add other single points or groups of points to the already selected group.
• Holding down Ctrl and Shift, click and drag the mouse pointer within the scatter plot area to eliminate the selected single points or groups of points from the selection.
• Clicking on an empty space in the scatter plot area cancels the entire selection.
  

How to save selected data points in the scatter plot for future use?

1. After desirable data points or group of them are selected, you can save them as a list by clicking the File:newlistbutton.png button.
2. Type in a name for the list in the text box and click OK.
   

How to remove a scatter plot?

In the Plotting menu of the Spreadsheet view, click the trash bin pictogram in the corresponding scatter plot setup controls to delete the corresponding one.
